From his very first job, Alvaro Diaz-Rato, Founder & Digital consultant at STRAT agency, worked in ecommerce.
“I did an internship in a small ecommerce store in Nottingham, United Kingdom. After finishing university there, I had the chance to try Shopify, when it wasn’t as famous as today, Mailchimp, Facebook ads, a little bit of everything,” Alvaro shares. This equipped him with enough skills to get a first paying job.
Over the next couple of years, Alvaro dove deeper into the world in ecommerce, with his focus being on PPC, and eventually decided to open his own agency.
“While I worked with various clients all over the world, 90% of them have been ecommerce stores in Spain. To this day, that has been our main focus.”
After digging into some data and analyzing the traffic that comes to his clients’ websites, Alvaro saw the potential of a new channel — email marketing.
Enter Omnisend
Initially, STRAT partnered with Klaviyo. While they offered necessary functionalities for their email marketing needs, limitations soon became apparent.
The pricing structure felt restrictive, there was lack of transparency and support. “We weren’t getting the level of partner support we needed,” Alvaro explained, “and the pricing structure felt unclear. It was becoming an obstacle to client satisfaction and agency growth.”

And there it was, in December 2021 STRAT joined Omnisend’s agency partnerships circle.
Building trust and partnership
“Since becoming partners with Omnisend, we haven’t had any complaints,” Alvaro says. He especially appreciates the support we offer.
“Our account manager Zulfi is always a message away. If you send him an email, he’ll reply promptly, provide all the information or connect you to someone who may help.” Alvaro feels that Omnisend goes above and beyond for their partners, and to that we say — that’s what you get when partnering up with a client centric organization.

Bringing the most value to customers
Just like Omnisend, STRAT agency does everything with their customer’s success in mind. That was exactly why they made the decision to expand their services to email marketing and, later on, become partners with Omnisend.
“Here in Spain we saw the potential of email marketing — it was always a powerful channel. The problem was that not many businesses were taking advantage of it. Especially when it came to automations, because such features were perceived as something that only big corporations, with teams of programmers use,” Alvaro says.
And maybe it is a technical hurdle to set up automations in some ESP platforms, but not in Omnisend. Drag-and-drop interface and pre-built flows made it easy for STRAT to implement these powerful tools for their clients.
The results spoke for themselves. STRAT’s clients, who were often new to email marketing automation, were able to set up effective abandoned cart flows and other sequences with minimal effort.
“When our clients saw a platform that is so easy to use by themselves, it was a big surprise for them. Especially since before they paid $600-1000 to Klaviyo for like two automations — welcome and a happy birthday flow. It became hard to justify such prices,” shares Alvaro.
For 2-3x lower monthly payments in Omninsend, STRAT’s clients were offered more and the migration from Klaviyo was a breeze, since there was already an app for that. “There wasn’t a lot of convincing we had to do and once they switched to Omnisend, the automated flows recaptured their lost sales opportunities and nurtured leads, resulting in a significant boost in revenue.”
Now, for some of STRAT’s clients 45-54% of total revenue comes from Omnisend and about a third of that is generated from automations.

“All in all, we saw that with Omnisend our clients get the highest ROI. They pay a couple of hundreds a month and get tens of thousands in return — just from automations,” concludes Alvaro. He added:
“Some may still think that email marketing is annoying, but if you send relevant information, your clients will be happy and enthusiastic. Automations allow just that — personalized communication that your audience signed up for.”
