WordCamp Asia 2025: Kicking off the year in Manila

Reading Time: 4 minutes

The first WordCamp of the year has officially wrapped, and what an incredible way to kick off 2025! WordCamp Asia in Manila brought together the global WordPress community for three days of learning, networking, and celebrating open-source collaboration. As Omnisend continues its second full year of sponsoring WordCamps worldwide, this event set a high bar for the months ahead.

A special WordCamp for Omnisend

This year’s WordCamp Asia held extra significance for us at Omnisend. Not only was it our first major WordCamp of 2025, but it was also a milestone for me (Bernard), as it was not only my first time organizing a WordCamp, but also serving as the Communications team co-lead on the WordCamp Asia 2025 organizing team. Helping to shape the messaging and storytelling of such a large-scale event was both an exciting challenge and a rewarding experience.

The Communications team along with Media Partners

We were also proud to continue supporting the WordPress community as sponsors, meeting new and familiar faces who are shaping the future of WordPress for businesses, developers, and marketers alike.

Contributor Day: Giving back to the WordPress ecosystem

Our WordCamp Asia experience kicked off with Contributor Day, where we joined hundreds of volunteers working to improve WordPress. Several Omnisend team members contributed to different teams, from marketing and documentation to accessibility and core development. It’s always inspiring to see firsthand how so many people come together to make WordPress better for everyone.

What Omnisend team members had to say about Contributor Day:

Ruta
“Being part of the Documentation team was an eye-opening experience. I got to work with passionate people who want to make WordPress more accessible to everyone. It’s incredible to see how even small contributions can have a big impact.”

Ieva
This was my first Contributor Day, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But the WordPress community is so welcoming that I quickly found my place in the Photos team, contributing to the Photo Directory by adding new resources. It was such an amazing start, and I’m already looking forward to the next one—hopefully joining even more teams!

Rokas
“I contributed to the Polyglots team, helping to translate WordPress into more languages. It was great to be part of something that makes WordPress even more global and inclusive.”

Community, connections, and partnerships

One of the most valuable aspects of WordCamps is the opportunity to connect with others in the WordPress community. Whether it was catching up with old friends, meeting new partners, or discussing potential integrations, WordCamp Asia once again proved how strong and welcoming this ecosystem is.

Omnisend team takeaways from WordCamp Asia:

Tadas
“I realized that attendees really value the presence of marketing-focused solutions in the WordPress ecosystem. Omnisend being part of this space helps show how email marketing can be more than just a plugin—it can be a core part of a successful WordPress business.”

Simona
“This was my second WordCamp, and what stood out to me was the strong sense of community. Everyone is eager to share knowledge and collaborate, which makes these events so special.”

Vytautas
“WordCamp Asia reminded me of why I love this community – an unforgettable experience of organizing, attending sessions, and connecting with fellow WordPress enthusiasts. It’s also the best way to arrange in-person meetings with like-minded people, and everyone is eager to do the same. Looking forward to the next event! “

Omnisend agency meet-up: a night of connections & collaborations

One of the standout moments for us was the Omnisend Agency Meet-up on February 21st. This exclusive event brought together agencies, freelancers, and potential partners for an evening of networking, collaboration, and exciting conversations about the future of email marketing within the WordPress ecosystem.

With a great turnout, we connected with agencies who are leading the charge in email marketing for WordPress-based businesses. It was inspiring to hear their insights, discuss the latest industry trends, and explore new partnership opportunities. The positive energy and enthusiasm made it clear—there’s a huge demand for smarter, more effective email marketing solutions, and we’re excited to continue supporting this space!

Exploring Manila

Of course, no trip to WordCamp Asia would be complete without taking in the local culture. From exploring Intramuros to sampling Filipino cuisine (shoutout to the incredible lechon and halo-halo!), Manila was an unforgettable host city. The warm hospitality and vibrant energy made this WordCamp even more special.

What’s next?

With WordCamp Asia setting the tone for the year, we’re already looking ahead to the next stops on the WordPress calendar. Our team will be in Basel, Switzerland for and WordCamp Europe in June, continuing our mission to support and engage with the WordPress community.

If we met at WordCamp Asia, let’s stay in touch! And if we didn’t get a chance to connect, we’d love to hear from you—whether it’s about ecommerce, email marketing, or just WordPress in general.

Until next time, WordPress friends!
