My Moosend review introduces you to an email marketing solution founded in 2012 in Greece, built for small to medium-sized businesses, bloggers, and ecommerce brands. It focuses on making email campaigns and automations simple, accessible, and affordable — from just $9/month.

Compared to established giants like Mailchimp or Constant Contact, Moosend is still a newer player in the market, which may leave you wondering if it’s reliable enough for your business.

In this review, I’ll give you an honest, in-depth look at Moosend’s functionality and reliability, so you can decide with confidence whether it’s the right platform for your email marketing needs.

Omnisend offers superior value and capabilities, providing all standard email marketing features across all plans

Moosend review: Summary

For this Moosend review, I spent time in its dashboard and analyzed 900+ reviews across G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot to understand who this platform helps. The short version — budget-conscious businesses wanting professional email tools at low prices.

Key findings

  • Pricing starts at $9/month for 500 contacts with unlimited sends — significantly cheaper than most competitors
  • 30-day free trial includes most Pro features, no credit card required for testing
  • Quick setup with pre-built automation workflows for cart abandonment, welcome series, and win-back campaigns
  • Live chat support receives consistent praise, though email support gets mixed reviews
  • 80+ native integrations sounds sufficient until you realize Omnisend has 160+, and you’ll need Zapier to do lots of heavy lifting
  • There are no transactional emails included unless you purchase a custom-priced Enterprise plan, or pay extra for an add-on with the cheaper Moosend+ plan

If you want email marketing that works without learning complex features, Moosend is a top-tier option. However, if your tech stack requires deep integrations or you’re building sophisticated customer journeys, you’re better off looking elsewhere.

What is Moosend in 2025?

Moosend is an email platform for beginners and businesses with small marketing budgets. Starting at $9/month, you get campaign tools, automation workflows, and detailed analytics from day one without additional upgrades.

The drag-and-drop editor handles campaign creation with AI writing assistance built in for subject lines and email copy. Over 130 templates provide starting points, though you might prefer building emails from scratch using the visual tools.

I’ve found that its automation flows eliminate repetitive work once you set triggers based on subscriber actions. Cart abandonment sequences, welcome series, and re-engagement campaigns run indefinitely after initial setup to cover your customer journey.

Performance data flows into dashboards showing opens, clicks, and conversion rates by device and location. Here’s a screenshot of the Moosend dashboard:

I like the dashboard’s simplicity and search feature. Email and chat support operate weekdays, helping to troubleshoot email campaigns and configure advanced Moosend features.

Moosend suits you if you’re a small to medium-sized business or an ecommerce store. However, if you sell products online, bear in mind that transactional emails are only available in the Moosend+ plan, which requires you to contact them for pricing.

Review of Moosend’s features

After going through all Moosend has to offer, here’s my review of its various features:

Email builder

I tested Moosend’s email campaign builder, and it works well. It’s easy to add your campaign details and pick a template design. Unsplash and GIPHY integrate directly, so you can search for images without opening new tabs.

Here’s a screenshot of the campaign builder:

Campaign builder

The campaign builder takes you through each step and offers several features:

  • Three ways to build your email: Drag pre-made blocks, code in HTML, or type in rich text format
  • Smart alignment guides: Grid lines appear when you move elements, preventing crooked designs
  • Device preview switching: Check mobile and desktop layouts with one click
  • Data merge fields: Pull in subscriber names, birthdays, or purchase history anywhere in your content
  • Spam score checker: Test inbox placement before hitting send
  • Split testing options: Compare different subject lines, content, or sender names

Once you’re into the template editor, it looks like this:

The drag-and-drop functionality makes building email easy, with a sidebar toggle letting you cycle through different items, layouts, and settings:

Marketing automation workflows

The workflow canvas lets you map customer journeys visually by dragging triggers onto the screen and connecting them to conditions and actions. Once activated, your automation runs until your customer exits the workflow.

You can either create a recipe from scratch or select a pre-built recipe, as seen below:

Automation templates
Image via Moosend

Selecting a recipe opens the automation editor, which isn’t the prettiest. Still, it provides helpful alerts in the bottom right to ensure you fill in all appropriate details — the screenshot below shows an abandoned cart recipe without any edits:

Automation editor
Image via Moosend

Here’s what you get with the workflow tools:

  • Behavior-based triggers: Start workflows when someone opens emails, visits pages, abandons carts, or hits custom API endpoints
  • Ready-to-use recipes: Activate cart recovery, welcome sequences, or win-back campaigns from templates
  • Logic operators: Create “And/Or” branches that respond to combined subscriber actions
  • Scheduled delays: Wait hours, days, or weeks between workflow steps
  • Path convergence: Merge separate branches back together to avoid repeating actions
  • Performance metrics: Check conversion rates and revenue without leaving the builder
  • Internal documentation: Leave notes on workflow steps for your team

The best thing about Moosend’s automations is that they are easy to build, edit, save, and tweak later. Its visual approach makes complex logic manageable for any non-technical members of your team. Additionally, you can see stats at a glance in the Automations page:

Subscription forms

Moosend offers subscription form builders for capturing leads. Six form types are available, including popups, inline forms, floating bars, floating boxes, and full-page forms.

Here’s an image of Moosend’s popup template library:

Popup templates
Image via Moosend

Selecting any of those templates opens the form builder, which has a basic but intuitive interface with draggable Items:

Popup editor

Form-building features include these capabilities:

  • Template library: You can use pre-designed forms ready for customization to match your brand
  • AI copy assistance: Generate form headlines and CTAs with built-in AI writer suggestions
  • Custom data fields: Collect more than emails by adding birthday fields, preferences, or any custom information
  • Visibility controls: Set basic rules for all visitors or advanced targeting by page, device, or user behavior
  • Gamification options: Add “Wheel of Fortune” spin-to-win elements for interactive lead capture
  • GDPR compliance: Built-in consent checkboxes for data collection transparency

The form builder includes team collaboration features with commenting directly in the editor, and the analytics tracks impressions, conversions, and conversion rates for each form.

Landing pages

Moosend includes a landing page builder alongside its email tools, letting you create lead capture pages without coding. The drag-and-drop interface works similarly to the email editor but produces standalone web pages.

Here’s a screenshot of Moosend’s landing page template library — you can search for different industries and preview templates before editing them:

Landing page templates
Image via Moosend

Landing page features include:

  • Template library: Around 40 pre-designed layouts for lead generation, product launches, webinars, and event signups
  • Built-in forms: Add subscription fields directly to pages without separate form creation
  • AI copywriting: Generate headlines and body text by describing your offer to the AI assistant
  • Custom font uploads: Maintain brand consistency by importing your company fonts
  • Conversion tracking: Monitor form submissions, button clicks, or page views as conversion events
  • History mode: Revert to previous versions if edits go wrong
  • Countdown timers: Add urgency elements to limited-time offers
  • Facebook Pixel and Google Analytics: Track visitor behavior and retarget audiences

The builder includes team collaboration features with comment threads on page elements. Pages adapt to mobile devices automatically, though customization options remain basic compared to dedicated landing page tools.

Segmentation and personalization

Moosend lets you build audience segments that update based on subscriber activity, demographics, purchases, and engagement data. You can then send these segments targeted messaging, such as VIP offers and win-back campaigns.

Your segment-builder options include creating from scratch or selecting a pre-built one:

Segment templates
Image via Moosend

Selecting a segment opens the segment editor:

Segment editor
Image via Moosend

I found the segment builder to be intuitive. It minimizes the potential for human error, and you can add multiple rules for appropriate grouping.

Segmentation options include these criteria:

  • Behavioral filters: Group by email opens, link clicks, or website visits
  • Purchase patterns: Segment by order frequency, total spent, or products bought
  • Dynamic content areas: Display different images or offers to different segments in one email
  • AI recommendations: Show products based on each subscriber’s browsing history
  • Audience Discovery: Let AI identify your best customers and lookalike audiences
  • Custom field creation: Store any subscriber data you need for targeting
  • Reusable templates: Save segment criteria for future campaigns

New subscribers flow into matching segments based on their actions, letting you start with simple groups before building behavioral profiles as your list grows.

Analytics and reporting

Campaign data appears immediately after sends begin, with unified dashboards covering all email types from newsletters to transactional messages.

Here’s an example of a dashboard showing three campaigns over the last 30 days:

Analytics and reporting
Image via Moosend

Performance tracking includes these metrics:

  • Live updates: Watch opens, clicks, and conversions as they happen
  • Click heatmaps: Visual overlays show where people engage in your emails
  • Geographic breakdowns: Identify which regions respond best
  • Revenue attribution: Link campaigns directly to sales
  • Widget-based dashboards: Build custom reports focusing on your KPIs
  • Data exports: Download CSV or Excel files for external analysis

The consolidated reporting view helps you understand campaign impact without switching between different analytics tools, keeping all email performance data in one location.

Template library and design assets

Moosend includes 130+ email templates spanning promotional, newsletter, and transactional styles, with landing pages that coordinate with email campaigns.

Here’s an image of Moosend’s template library:

Template gallery
Image via Moosend

Design resources cover these areas:

  • Responsive layouts: Templates adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops automatically
  • Block saving: Store custom headers, product grids, or CTAs for reuse
  • Business categories: Find designs for retail, SaaS, events, or restaurants
  • Quick customization: Swap colors, fonts, and images to match your brand
  • Matching forms: Build subscription popups that complement email designs

Some of the stock templates look dated compared to current design trends, so you’ll probably find yourself customizing heavily or creating designs from scratch for a modern appearance.

A/B testing

Moosend provides A/B testing functionality for campaigns, letting you test subject lines, body content, sender names, and visual elements to optimize performance.

Here’s an image of Moosend’s A/B testing interface:

A/B testing
Image via Moosend

Testing capabilities include these options:

  • Variable testing: Compare subject lines, email content, images, CTAs, or sender names between versions
  • Custom sample sizes: Choose how many subscribers receive each test variant
  • Flexible timing: Set the test duration before automatically sending the winning version
  • Winning criteria: Define success by open rate, click rate, or other metrics you prioritize
  • Automatic deployment: The platform sends the winning version to remaining subscribers after testing
  • Resend options: Automatically send campaigns again to non-openers to increase engagement

The A/B testing works on both lists and segments, giving you control over who participates in tests. Results appear in the analytics dashboard for review and future optimization.

Integration ecosystem

Moosend connects to 80+ external services with verified integrations for Google Analytics, Salesforce, WordPress, and Microsoft Outlook, among others. You can find all integrations via the backend, under More > Integrations:

Integrations
Image via Moosend

Connection options span these categories:

  • Ecommerce sync: WooCommerce, ThriveCart, and Simvoly share customer data
  • CRM connections: Salesforce integration maintains unified contact records
  • Content management: WordPress and Drupal plugins simplify form embedding
  • Analytics tracking: Google Analytics tags embed automatically
  • Extended connectivity: Zapier handles services without native integration

The integration count falls short of competitors who offer hundreds of direct connections (e.g., Omnisend, Klaviyo, Mailchimp), meaning you’ll often rely on Zapier for less common tools.

Transactional emails and SMTP

Order confirmations and password resets are sent using Moosend’s servers alongside marketing campaigns, keeping all email data in one system.

The only problem is that you have no idea how much transactional emails are going to cost, because they are an extra as part of the Moosend+ and Enterprise plans.

Even if you sign up for a free trial, you still can’t upgrade to the Moosend+ or Enterprise plan without contacting Moosend’s sales team. Here’s a screenshot of the upgrade options via the backend for 3,000 subscribers:

Upgrate options
Image via Moosend

If you do pay the extra, transactional capabilities include:

  • API sending: Trigger emails programmatically from your application
  • SMTP relay: Route existing application emails via Moosend’s servers
  • Variable insertion: Personalize receipts with order details
  • Combined reporting: Track transactional and marketing performance together
  • Shared infrastructure: Benefit from Moosend’s deliverability for all emails

Also, pricing documentation shows some inconsistency — transactional emails appear to be included in Moosend+ plans, but are an add-on unless you opt for the most expensive Enterprise plan.

API

Moosend offers API access for automating your email marketing tasks. Skip the dashboard entirely and integrate campaigns directly into your applications using RESTful endpoints.

You’ll authenticate with API keys from your account settings. Here’s an example:

API key
Image via Moosend

The API handles these operations:

  • Campaign automation: Schedule sends, test subject lines with A/B splits, or clone successful templates programmatically
  • Batch processing: Import 1,000 subscribers per request, perfect for syncing customer databases or migrating from other platforms
  • Dynamic segmentation: Build audience filters combining purchase behavior, engagement metrics, and custom fields in real time
  • Transactional emails: Send receipts and account notifications with Mustache templating for personalized content blocks
  • Workflow integration: Trigger automations from external events like purchases or signups in your app
  • Data extraction: Export click heatmaps, revenue attribution, and geographic performance into business intelligence tools
  • Rate protection: Built-in limits prevent accidental flooding (example — 10 subscriber adds per 10 seconds)

Choose between JSON and XML responses, use standard HTTP methods, and rely on detailed error codes when debugging integrations.

How much does Moosend cost?

Moosend doesn’t provide a free plan, but it does give you 30 days free to test everything before paying. No credit card needed, and you’ll access almost every Pro feature during the trial period.

Pro plan monthly Moosend pricing

  • 500 contacts: $9 ($7 annually)
  • 1,000 contacts: $16 ($13 annually)
  • 2,000 contacts: $24 ($19 annually)
  • 5,000 contacts: $48 ($38 annually)

Every Pro tier includes unlimited sends, automation workflows, landing pages, and analytics. Upgrading only changes your contact limit, never your feature access.

Here’s a snapshot of Moosend’s Pro plan pricing:

Moosend pricing

The next step up is Moosend+, a custom-priced plan with a transactional email add-on, dedicated IPs, SSO & SAML, and audience discovery features.

If you send campaigns quarterly or during holidays rather than weekly, consider email credits instead. Pay $350 for 350,000 sends and use them whenever you need, without monthly fees.

Email credit pricing

  • 350,000 credits: $350
  • 500,000 credits: $500
  • 750,000 credits: $750
  • 1,000,000 credits: $1,000

Enterprise pricing starts around 70,000 contacts, but requires consultation for quotes. You’ll work with account managers who configure custom solutions based on sending volume and support needs (best if you have complex sending requirements).

What are Moosend’s pros and cons?

You get professional email marketing at budget prices with Moosend, though you’ll miss some features competitors offer. The automation and deliverability work well, but limited integrations and no free plan create trade-offs.

Here’s a comparison of Moosend’s pros and cons:

    ProsCons
Excellent value — Unlimited sends and automation workflows included at all price tiers, starting at $9/monthNo free plan — Competitors like Omnisend have free forever plans with generous sending limits
Ready-made automations save setup time — Cart abandonment, welcome series, and re-engagement workflows activate with one clickZapier becomes essential for many connections — With only 80+ integrations versus hundreds elsewhere, workarounds multiply quickly
Each subscriber sees different products — AI analyzes purchase history and browsing behavior to personalize recommendationsBasic CRM features — Contact management exists but lacks sales pipelines, deal tracking, or advanced segmentation
Comprehensive analytics — Real-time reporting includes email heatmaps, device tracking, and built-in spam testingEditor inconsistencies — Users report occasional glitches requiring browser refreshes to resolve
High deliverability — Customers report 98% inbox placement rates when following best practices Strict spam policies — Swift account suspensions for poor list quality frustrate some users
Responsive live chat — Support consistently praised for quick, helpful responses during business hoursEmail support issues — Multiple reviewers found email responses less helpful than live chat

    Review of Moosend’s support

Live chat delivers the best support experience at Moosend, with users praising fast responses and helpful agents. Email support receives mixed reviews — one G2 reviewer found responses “a little more on the condescending side.”

The knowledge base covers email campaigns, automation, integrations, and account settings with articles and video tutorials. Finding the right answers sometimes requires patience since content sprawls across multiple categories.

Support availability depends on your plan level. All Moosend tiers get documentation access plus email and chat support, but Enterprise customers receive priority handling and dedicated account managers.

One reviewer raved about getting chat help at 10 PM Eastern Time within 10 minutes. Another mentioned support going “the extra mile” to solve technical issues.

No phone support exists, which will be frustrating if you prefer talking through complex problems with a human. Moosend prioritizes digital channels over traditional phone assistance.

For best results, start with live chat during weekdays rather than submitting email tickets. The immediate feedback helps resolve issues faster than waiting for email responses that customers report as less satisfactory.

    Moosend user reviews and experiences

Software review sites paint a positive picture — G2 users rate Moosend 4.7/5 across 717 reviews, while Capterra shows 4.6/5 from 196 reviewers. Affordability, automation features, and live chat support earn the most praise.

The feedback highlights strengths across platforms:

    • “Customer service was outstanding — less than five minutes to get live online chat and even scheduled a live onboarding call” — Nick Z., VP Marketing (G2)
    • “The customer support via live chat is incredibly fast and helpful” — Capterra reviewer
    • “Their real-time live chat support is fantastic” — Tracie S., Graphic Designer (G2), though she noted email support felt “condescending”
    • “I’ve been using Moosend for 8 years. Very reliable and excellent tool which is easy to use for a great price” — Jorij Abraham (G2)

Trustpilot tells a different story with a 3.4/5 rating and polarized Moosend reviews. Negative feedback centers on account suspensions:

    • “Signed up for a trial, logged in, and then got tied up for the day. Later that night, I login to my email and my trial is over” — DJ Public School
    • “Pure scam. Avoid” — Pranto Roy Protik

The stark divide reflects Moosend’s aggressive anti-spam enforcement. Customers with clean lists experience excellent deliverability and support, while those importing questionable contacts face swift account termination.

Clean email lists and proper sending practices lead to positive experiences with Moosend’s platform. Choose live chat when you need help — reviewers rate it higher than email support across all platforms.

How does Moosend compare to other email marketing platforms?

Moosend has lower-cost paid plans than most other email marketing platforms, but its cheapest plan has severe limitations that affect your ability to cover your customer journey, namely, no transactional emails or SMS capabilities.

The most significant Moosend alternatives include Mailchimp, MailerLite, and Omnisend, all of which have free plans and target different use cases.

    Moosend vs. Mailchimp

Price differences jump out immediately — Moosend charges $9 monthly for 500 contacts with unlimited sends and automation access. Mailchimp asks $20 for the same contact count, and you’ll need higher tiers for automation features.

The integration gap matters more for complex businesses. Mailchimp connects to 300+ tools natively, leaving Moosend’s 80+ integrations looking sparse. If your tech stack includes niche tools, expect to use Zapier with Moosend.

    Moosend vs. MailerLite

These platforms compete neck-and-neck on pricing, with MailerLite at $10 monthly for 500 contacts versus Moosend’s $9. The real difference shows in free options — MailerLite offers 1,000 contacts forever free, but Moosend only provides a 30-day trial.

SMS marketing splits the platforms further. MailerLite requires its separate MailerSend service starting at $35/month for transactional messaging. Moosend focuses purely on email, offering more sophisticated automation logic and workflow branching for those who don’t need SMS.

    Moosend vs. Omnisend

Moosend adapted general email tools for ecommerce by adding product blocks and cart recovery workflows. Omnisend is for online selling, and the difference shows in execution.

The Shopify integration gap alone makes Omnisend the best choice for your store. Add unified SMS/email campaigns, pre-built sales automations, and revenue tracking built into every report — Moosend can’t match this ecommerce focus despite lower prices.

Additionally, Omnisend has a free plan with all standard features and transactional emails. You don’t have to pay extra to send your customers order confirmations.

Choose based on what you sell and how you sell it. Moosend works for newsletters and service emails, while Omnisend delivers the automation flows to cover your entire customer journey.

    Should you choose Moosend?

Moosend fits best when you need email automation and campaign tools at budget prices. After reviewing hundreds of user experiences, clear patterns emerge about who benefits most.

    Key strengths I found

    • Automation workflows that rival expensive competitors at a fraction of the cost
    • True unlimited sends on all paid plans — no surprise overage fees
    • Drag-and-drop editing that non-designers can master quickly
    • Clean emails without forced branding, even on basic plans
    • Live chat support that helps solve problems
    • Pre-built segments make grouping your contacts easy

    Where Moosend falls short

    • No built-in CRM means managing contacts in spreadsheets or external tools
    • Limited integrations (80+ vs. hundreds elsewhere) create Zapier dependencies
    • No transactional emails in the Pro plan
    • No native SMS capabilities
    • Missing native Shopify connection hurts ecommerce potential
    • Template designs need modernizing for contemporary aesthetics

I wouldn’t pass up Moosend if you’re sending newsletters, running service businesses, or need affordable automation. The 30-day trial gives you enough time to test if Moosend email marketing matches your workflow — most users find it does.

Upgrade your email automations and combine them with SMS and push notifications with Omnisend

    Moosend review FAQs

Is Moosend still free to use?

No, Moosend doesn’t have a forever-free plan. You get 30 days to test all Pro features without a credit card, then you’ll need to pick a paid plan starting at $7/month.

    Does Moosend work with Shopify?

You’ll connect Moosend to Shopify via Zapier since no direct integration exists. This means managing two services, potential sync delays, and the potential for extra monthly fees — frustrating if you picked Moosend to save money.

What is the deliverability rate for Moosend?

Users report 98% inbox placement when following email marketing best practices, according to Moosend’s marketing. Your actual rates depend on list hygiene — poor quality lists trigger spam filters quickly.

Which email marketing has the highest ROI?

According to Omnisend’s 2025 report, ecommerce brands using Omnisend generate $68 for every $1 spent on email and SMS marketing. Automated emails deliver the best returns — abandoned cart emails convert one in two clickers into buyers, while campaigns convert just one in 18.
